After a delicious sitting at the Ship patio one night, Siddall, Norman and I were on the hunt for ice cream.
Since ice cream is Siddall’s spirit animal, she was already in the know of a new ice cream shoppe – Made by Marcus that had opened on 17th Avenue. Made by Marus is a microcreamery who whip up all sorts of unique flavours in their wee shop: Tahitian Banilla Bean, Peach Jalapeno Yougurt and Cold Brew Coffee among them.
Approaching the shop, it’s popularity at this juncture is well apparent as there was a line out the door. But, we were at the till in about ten minutes.
Salted Caramel is one of my favourite flavours, and the Made by Marcus website does include a Salted Butter Caramel, but it wasn’t on the board that night. Instead I went with the Whiskey Hazelnut Praline in a waffle cone. It was creamy, and the best part was I could taste each of the three flavours individually, but they also complimented each other very well, especially the whiskey.
Siddall went with a scoop each of the Cookies and Cream, and Cold Brew Coffee adding the cotton candy side for $1. Other sides include a roasted marshmellow, which they hand torch in-shop. Norman went with the classic favourite, Cookie Dough. All flavours were a big hit, but if it’s a bit breezy out, take care your cotton candy doesn’t make an escape.
